CASS graduation day celebrations

More than 280 students from the ANU College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS) have been awarded their degrees in the mid-year graduations.
The CASS cohort includes 150 undergraduate students and over 100 postgraduate coursework students. Another 27 students can now officially call themselves “Doctor” after having their research degrees conferred.
They join a total of nearly 3000 students across ANU graduating in the mid-year ceremonies.
Graduands, friends and families also attended a celebration lunch held at the Great Hall in University House before the official award ceremony.
At the event, College Dean Professor Toni Makkai wished students well in their future endeavours, and urged graduands to keep in touch with the College and the connections they’d made while at ANU.
“We recognise the commitment that each and every one of you has made to be here today and the dedication and perseverance required to complete your studies,” said Professor Makkai.
“Be proud of your achievements and enjoy your graduation ceremony. Take the time to savour the experience and take in your successes, and the achievements of your peers.”
Dr Raihan Ismail, who graduated from the College last year, also spoke at the event. Dr Ismail is now working as an Associate Lecturer at the Centre for Arabic and Islamic Studies, and has recently signed to have her thesis published by Oxford University Press.
